Phu Ly over at ifelse.co.uk set himself the task of creating and publishing to the web a new theme each day for a week, giving himself the luxury of Sunday off. So 6 themes in 6 days then.
Here’s is day 1 - Simpla
The free version described here is still available from the download link above however there is a completely re-vamped version (September 2013) known as TXP Simpla Plugged and the demo button above is linked to this new version.
TXP Simpla Plugged is coded in HTML5 and is fully “responsive”. It also contains many additional facilities not available in the free version. You can read all about the new additions in the articles on the demo pages. This new version requires Textpattern 4.4.1+. Whilst the free version has the same “look” as the demo it does not contain the new coding or facilities described.
Are all the extra forms (includes) necessary? Wouldn’t it be easier to just put all the footers etc. in the page template?

There would be nothing to stop you doing it that way if you wished but it would make for a very complex page template so I’m not about to change the download.
Following the “Themes” discussion on the forum I have no doubt that at some point in the future I shall have to modify ALL of my downloads to suit whatever theme structure is adopted but until then…

Pardon me if this is rude, but I am having the hardest time adapting a 3rd column to this, do you have any templates for this that I could look at to ease the pain?

Have you had a look at Vladimir’s Serene? It is 3 column at 1024 and above but drops down to 2 column at lower resolutions. Very clever. You could always remove the “top_nav” and place those links into the sidebar.

Using the debugging function, it threw up a small error in the default page template - there are two instances of
